The Locks

Let’s talk Historic Preservation. The latest phase of Richmond's canal development will commence with the opening of The Locks, a new mixed-use community along the downtown riverfront. Set to open in December, 2012 with apartment units and an upscale Mexican restaurant developed by Richmond restaurateur Kevin Healy, The Locks is set to represent a new urban enclave of Richmond.

Located on six acres along the meeting point of the Kanawha and Haxall Canals the site will be an extension of the city's Canal Walk project, enhancing the riverfront between 10th and Virginia Streets, and rejoining the heart of Richmond with its historical roots along the James River.

The development is a partnership by WVS Companies and Fountainhead Properties, The Locks continues the thread of adaptation along Richmond's riverfront, transforming the former Reynolds Metals manufacturing plants, including four historically significant buildings, into modern luxury apartments and approximately 7,000 square feet of retail space.
